about this gallery

The 3:2 aspect ratio is a common format for photographers who use film or digital SLR cameras. The major DSLR camera makers use sensors that have a default 3:2 aspect ratio, in the tradition of the old 35mm film cameras.

This aspect ratio is popular for some photographers as they believe it is mathematically the best format for achieving aesthetically pleasing compositions. Although many photographers avoid the format when shooting vertically as they want to avoid the inclusion of 'negative space'.

Personally I tend to look for negative space in my images, so much of this gallery is dominated by vertical images as opposed to horizontal images.
